As an electric utility company in the United Kingdom providing electricity to over 8 million homes, businesses, schools and hospitals, UK Power Networks depends on its field workforce to keep the lights on throughout its serving territories across London, Southeast and East England. Its customers include high-profile public and private sector businesses such as London’s five main airports, the London Underground transport system and the financial district of Canary Wharf.

UK Power Networks deploys thousands of rugged mobile devices its workforce depends on for any new electrical installs as well as troubleshooting of power outages. The devices run a variety of applications, and require both reliability from the device and applications, as well as network connectivity.  These devices are mission-critical for ensuring UK Power Networks can respond swiftly to any issues in the delivery of electricity.

The IT Support team approached B2M and our partner Panasonic Networks to discuss their limitations with using MDM and traditional troubleshooting methods to respond to any issues their workers face with mobility.

B2M’s Elemez Mobility Intelligence allowed them to go beyond the use of both their MDM solution and their traditional operations tools, to shift the management of mobility to proactive, preventive and even predictive using the real-time visibility Elemez provides into the health and utilization of their mobile devices.
